FREE COMMUNITY CLASSES: Announced in summer
Mark your calendars! Pulse Dance Company offers beginner-friendly, open-level dance classes for teens and adults every summer. Join varying artists from the company for fun and accessible offerings! Classes are free and donations are accepted. Hosted by Studio Pulse Center for Dance (2422 E. Tudor Rd.); exact classes and schedule TBA.
What to wear: comfortable yoga/dance/gym attire. Socks and bare feet OK, no specific shoes required. Please bring a water bottle. Invite your friends!
JUNE 1: Ballet for very beginners: no tights necessary, no age limit! Learn basic terms, alignment, and exercises at the barre, in center, and across the floor. Be a ballerina for a day - no judgement, lots of learning!
JUNE 8: Dance Fitness for Everyone: Raise your heart rate while following along at a pace that suits you, then tone at the barre and enjoy a thorough deep stretch. Just what your inner dancer is craving!
JUNE 15: Guided Dance Improvisation: If you like stepping out of your comfort zone, you'll love being encouraged to think in new ways, move in new ways, and unleash your creativity. Be prepared to connect with your intuition and with your classmates.
JUNE 22: Jazz Basics: Learn how to slink, sway, and all that jazz! From key Fosse elements to more contemporary movement, you'll dip your toes into the basics of this strong, sassy style.
JUNE 29: Intro to Modern Dance: Embrace gravity and engage your core! We'll break down contractions and release, explore and expand on pedestrian movements, introduce floorwork and learn a short combination that highlights key modern elements.
